I was a Catholic Elementary School Teacher for 10 years, and stopped when my husband and I started our family. As my children got older, I began applying for various jobs, but with my husband traveling very frequently for work it was difficult for me to commit to working a traditional full-time job. I found myself saying to my husband, “I wish I could just plan lessons for teachers!” I missed coming up with fun and engaging ways to bring God’s Word to children. When job after job didn’t work out, I took a break from applying and began to volunteer at my kids’ school. I helped plan religious events for the school families, and began creating a monthly newsletter, detailing the upcoming events and highlighting a saint of the month. It was then that I had my lightbulb moment - to create a monthly magazine just for Catholic kids! The magazine would be filled with wholesome, fun, engaging, Catholic content, and could be used in classrooms, parishes, or families. Once this idea was in my head, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and Rooted was born.  I started Sally K. Publications, LLC - named after my beloved Grandmother - and began working on the magazine.  I truly felt that God was calling me to create this, and suddenly, all the job rejections made sense!  Rooted is my labor of love, and I feel so passionately that this is such a valuable resource for Catholic kids of all ages in today’s society.  There are so many conflicting messages that our children are bombarded with on a daily basis; we need to combat these messages by continuing to reinforce Christ’s infinite goodness and love in our lives.  We need to keep our kids Rooted. In Faith. In Christ.
